# Privacy Policy

Mochi organizes files on your Mac. Your files, filenames, and folder paths are not sent to Mochi’s servers. AI is optional and off by default.

## Who we are

“Mochi”, “we”, and “us” refer to Jerry Sun, the developer of the Mochi macOS app and this website. For privacy questions, access requests, corrections, deletion, or unsubscribe help, email [trymochi.dev@gmail.com](mailto:trymochi.dev@gmail.com).

## The Mochi app

### Files and folders

Mochi works only in folders you explicitly authorize. Rules, review decisions, undo history, and folder access bookmarks are stored locally on your Mac. File contents, filenames, and paths are never sent to our servers.

### Optional AI classification

When you use your own API keys, Mochi sends a limited description of a file that ordinary rules could not place to the provider you configured. This can include a normalized filename, file type, size, dates, Finder tags, destination descriptions, and up to 2,000 characters of extracted text. Common email addresses, phone numbers, and long number sequences are redacted on your Mac first. Complete files are not uploaded.

Provider requests go directly from your Mac and do not pass through us. The provider’s terms apply. Local Ollama requests stay on your Mac. API keys are stored in macOS Keychain and are not sent to us.

### Optional account and future Pro service

If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address, name, profile image URL, and a count of files sorted; we do not receive the names or details of those files. Mochi Pro is not launched. Before launch, this policy will be updated with the hosted AI and payment processing details.

## This website

- **Analytics:** Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights provide aggregate page and performance data without advertising cookies.
- **Downloads:** a download click can record the page path, referrer, browser user agent, and time.
- **Waitlist:** if you subscribe, we store your email and signup page only to send low-volume product updates. Every message will provide an unsubscribe option.
- **Infrastructure:** Vercel, Supabase, GitHub, and their subprocessors may briefly process IP addresses and technical logs to deliver and secure the service.

We do not sell personal information or use it for advertising.

## Retention, rights, and security

Account information is kept while an account is active. Waitlist addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion. Download records may be aggregated, anonymized, or deleted. Depending on where you live, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or portability. We aim to respond within 30 days.

We minimize collection, encrypt data in transit, restrict database access, and store app credentials in macOS Keychain. You may also complain to the [Office of the Australian Information Commissioner](https://www.oaic.gov.au/) or your local regulator.

## Children and policy changes

Mochi is not directed to children under 16. Material policy changes will be posted here with a new effective date, and account holders or waitlist subscribers will be notified when appropriate.
